The Mimesis 40 Tractor

The plan being to convert the Komatsu 40 Bulldozer to a ‘generic/imitation’ of a Caterpillar 45 Tractor. Mimesis in Biology means ‘imitation’.

The Komatsu G25 Crawler

Komatsu began crawler tractor production in 1932 with a copy of the Caterpillar 2-Ton crawler designated G25.
Take a look at the photo on the left.

On top is the Komatsu G25

On the bottom the Caterpillar 2-Ton.

Pay special attention to the track-support structures. Looks to me like it was a direct copy. No kidding!

The Komatsu G40 Crawler

Komatsu engineers ventured abroad to get a glimpse of an actual bulldozer. In 1935, they released a copy of the Best 30, designated the G40.
Again, take a look at the photo on the left.

On top is the Komatsu G40.

On the bottom the Best 30.

The Komatsu G40 Bulldozer

On the left there are two versions of the Komatsu G40 Bulldozer.
On top is the Tamiya 1:48 model as Tamiya illustrates on the box.

On the bottom is the testing of the prototype (or something nearly so)

Obviously there are quite a bit of difference between the mechanism that lifts the blade.
